wk. 4/16-4/24 quest. 1

1) Well, as an art major I deal with creativity more then the average college student. I am always thinking outside the box. The first couple art courses I took were a little difficult to get into the swing of things. Art teachers already have developed their creative thinking, and really embrace the different, the new and the things that don’t usually make sense. I was originally going to major in sociology, which is very different then art....so that was my biggest challenge. I loved doing art and design but was unprepared to think creatively literally all the time. Sometimes it is still hard to get new ideas when you are pressured to finish school and have other responsibilities in other courses. The chapter discusses how Einstein said “imagination is more important hen knowledge.” In a way sometimes it is. Without creative imaginations we would not have certain inventions and thus new ways of thinking.

  1. I can relate to your situation. I used to be an English major, and my biggest problem (and eventually why I switched to lovely communications) is the fact that no matter how "creative" I thought I was being, I could be marked wrong because it wasn't what the teacher necessarily thought was "right." This drove me nuts! I would have to analyze something and if my ideas didn't match with the teachers then I wouldn't receive full credit. Or if I had to think about what the theme of a story was and why I thought it was that way, but the teacher didn't agree, hey, there it is again! Less than full credit. Switching to Communications I found that I was able to be more creative, without fear of risking my GPA neck.
