2) In discussing proxemics and chronemics within cultures, I have been involved in chronemics particularly with my hispanic side of my family. During get togethers, parties, special events and holidays, my family members tend to not see time as an important issue. Its a time to relax and party, and stay all day and night! Its almost seen as an insult to not eat and stay for a good length of time. Your invited you must stay and actively participate. It doesn’t matter if you have obligations tomorrow for work, or anything else, you make the time as a gesture. My mom is not of hispanic decent and she has had to get used to the cultural difference when major celebrations come along. I never understood the difference between the two families chronemics until I got older, very interesting. Although, this might just be my perception, maybe its just my particular family.
