wk 14-20 quest 2
2-I don’t agree that concept of “white men of privilege” should exist. But I do believe that it may still be an issue. Because America was founded by “white men” the concept that they should be more privileged then others does exist. But our country also has many freedoms for people. Accepting different cultures, languages, heritages is difficult for everyone. I would hope with time, education and new perspectives that this concept will gradually begin to diminish. But it will be hard as the book explains to form small groups and have a common goal, if all our cultures are different. Meaning our values, and morals in life will not be shared or alike. Therefore if we can’t agree on a common goal, we won’t be grouped together. The cycle will continue...hopefully communication will force us to explore and understand each others cultures more in the future.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you that white men of privilege should not exist. I also agree that it may still be an issue. Our history is based on the power of white men, and it's going to be hard to change years of tradition.
I agree that a cycle is formed. It is sometimes hard for people to accept different cultures, even if they don't have a valid excuse. I think that communication will slowly, over time, change the power so that more than white men are of privilege. What do you think can be done so that the reign of power can be changed to include different cultures? How do you think different cultures can merge to create new powers?
